Overview
Experience the ultimate Sigiriya day tour as we take you on a journey to the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage. This full day tour is designed for those who want to witness the ancient city of Sigiriya and the Golden Temple of Dambulla in a single, seamless day trip.
Your day tour from Colombo begins with a comfortable drive in a full-option vehicle. Our first major stop is the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest, best-preserved cave temple complex in the country. Here, you will see where Lord Buddha’s life is painted on the walls of the cave, featuring over 150 Buddha statues and intricate frescoes dating back to the 2nd century.
Following the temple tour, we will visit a lush Spice and Herbal Garden to learn about Sri Lankan traditional medicine and spices. After a delicious local lunch, we head to the main event: exploring Sigiriya.
Known as the 8th wonder of the world, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century. As you make the final ascent to the top of the massive rock, you will pass the famous Lion Rock entrance and the “Maidens of Sigiriya” frescoes painted on the walls. Reaching the summit of this cultural world heritage site offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Sigiriya area.
After a day of history and wonder, we begin returning to Colombo, arriving back around 7:00 PM.
This activity includes:
- Pickup and drop-off at hotels in or around Colombo.
- Transport in a private full-option vehicle with an English speaking tour guide and driver.
- Visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple (Golden Temple).
- Guided tour in Sigiriya to the Rock Fortress.

I had an adapted version of this 7 day budget tour through the mainland of Sri Lanka (Yala National Park, Ella, Ambewela (by train), Nuwara Eliya, Kandy and Sigiriya). Lanka Safe tours organised the trip very well and especially my driver Nazly cared a lot about me. His good driving skills, the very good english and the knowledge of the local sites helped me a lot to feel comfortable and enjoy the whole trip.Posted on Céline EhrhardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Super belle journée au top nous y avons vu beaucoup d'éléphant notre chauffeur super gentil et très très aimablePosted on mark bethelTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the 5 day 4 night tour with Milan as our guide and chauffeur. I did wonder if the service and quality of the tour would be good but I needn’t of worried. I requested the 5 star hotels and was not disappointed with the rooms and the meals. The places we visited were excellent and if we hadn’t of been on the tour it would of been unlikely we would of seen as much as we did Typical days started at 0900 and ended at 1700 or when we were tired or the traffic dictated. Kandy was worth the visit but be aware the traffic was manic at peak times. Recommend you start the tour from a Colombo hotel this way you get a better experience than an airport collection. Highlights were the elephants and the boat ride for me.Posted on ashley ovinisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the get go, our escort Mr. Prasanna was a gem. He was polite, caring, extremely punctual and helpful with information and suggestions. I am also very pleased with the arrangements that Lanka Safe made with regards to the hotels. They were most accommodative when we wanted a change in one of our hotels. The quality of the hotels chosen by Lanka Safe exceeded our expectations and the breakfast and dinners in the hotels were fabulous. I would strongly recommend using Lanka Safe as your chosen travel company and also request the services of Mr. Prasanna as your driver cum escort.Posted on Lisa OTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We, a family of five, booked a 5-day, 4-night tour with Lanka Safe Tours, opting for the 3-star hotel package. Among the quotes we received, Safe Lanka Tours offered the most reasonable pricing — including an air-conditioned vehicle with Wi-Fi, breakfast and dinner, and a well-planned itinerary based on the places we wanted to go. We paid a $200 deposit before the trip and settled the balance in cash upon arrival. The team went above and beyond to accommodate our requests — from changing a hotel to organising a birthday surprise for my dad with just a day’s notice. Their communication and flexibility were much appreciated. A special thank you to Prasanna, our driver and guide, who truly made our trip memorable. He took excellent care of us, always checking in to ensure we were happy with our rooms and meals. All of our hotel rooms were spacious and meals were delicious. He was also punctual, safe on the roads, and very kind in allowing us all the time we needed to explore. We visited Colombo, Bentota, Galle, and Negombo — all made better by Prasanna’s warm hospitality and professionalism. This was a great trip, made even better by Prasanna and the Lanka Safe Tours team. Thank you — and ayubowan!Posted on Joachim HögbergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are a Swedish family of six travelling in the south, not spending too much time in the car on country/seaside roads. We visited Maduganga Lake, Galle Fort, had whale safari at sunrise, tried surfing in perfect conditions in Weligama, had some excellent chill days at Madiha Beach snorkeling with turtles, had mighty waves in Tangalle, sun dawn in Yala National Park, had local guides in the Sinharaja rainforest and the intense smells of the Lumbini Tea Factory. The best part of our trip was our lovely guide, Prasanna. He took us consistently to the best food, many times from local kitchens, fresh seafood on the beach (the most recently caught fish I've ever had), small local bakeries/restaurants, or buffalo curd at the roadside. He consistently checked in on us when we were not together, to make sure all was good. If I say something constructive, opt out of the half-board (stick to breakfast) when there are many restaurants in the area (Ask Prasanna for recommendations as you go). Make sure you communicate your priorities to the agency at the start and check if you want/can afford to upgrade some of the agency-selected hotels. (We took the 4-star option and did one hotel upgrade) Accommodation prices can vary widely, and it is usually well worth paying a bit more if reviews are blended. We loved Sri Lanka and travelling with Prasanna. We hope to fund another trip with Lanka Safe Tours in the future.Posted on Saroj KumarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We took a 3-day tour package with Lanka Safe Tours and truly enjoyed the entire experience. The team did an excellent job planning and arranging everything according to our customized requests, making the trip smooth and stress-free. A special mention to Fazli (driver/guide), who went above and beyond to ensure we experienced the very best of Sri Lanka within a limited time. He is an excellent guide with deep knowledge of top attractions and experiences, and he meticulously planned the itinerary to optimize travel routes and time. Thanks to him, we were able to see and do so much in just three days. Fazli also took us to some amazing local places to eat and arranged wonderful accommodation at Hill Paradise Hanthana, which offered postcard-worthy views of the city and surrounding mountain ranges. Above all, he is genuinely kind, empathetic, and attentive, which made the trip even more enjoyable. We had a lovely and memorable trip and would definitely recommend Lanka Safe Tours. If you’re planning a trip to Sri Lanka, be sure to ask for Fazli — you won’t be disappointed!Posted on Robert BeerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Not the first time in Sri Lanka and used to great service. However, our driver Sajee brought the experience to another level! Very safe driving, always calm. Knowledgeable, excellent English and so fun to be with! If you do a tour 7+ days, ask for Sajee! For my wife, two adult daughters and myself, Sajee was part of the Sri Lanka experience!Posted on Tina JohnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My mom and I took a Colombo city tour with Lanka Safe Tours, and it was a wonderful experience. Our chauffeur, Baritha Fernando, was extremely friendly, helpful, and especially patient, as my mom is a senior citizen. He always checked in with us and did his best to accommodate our requests within the schedule. It truly felt like having someone familiar with us in Sri Lanka. Thank you for the excellent service!Posted on Danila ArmstrongTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We arrived on 27th November for the start of our 10 day tour just as the Cyclone was about to do its damage. We met our driver Prasanna at the airport exactly as arranged and were transferred to our first hotel. Unfortunately, the Cyclone disrupted our planned schedule but Prasanna skilfully re-arranged our itinerary. Prasanna maintained a positive and enthusiastic approach to what was essentially a disrupted trip due to the damage caused to so many of the areas we had planned to visit. He was never short of ideas as to what else we could do. He saved our trip! Prasanna is also very knowledgeable and answered the numerous questions we had, not only about the areas we visited but also general things about the country. We cannot recommend this organisation enough.Load more
